about george

George is an experienced educator, and leader with a deep commitment to supporting teachers in the Visual and Performing Arts. Over his career, he has taught Drama and Theatre, Visual Arts (Painting, Design, Photography), Media, and Music across all year levels from Year 5 to Year 13, including both NCEA (New Zealand) and VCE (Australia). His leadership roles have included Subject Leader, Head of Learning Area, Head of House, and governance roles. George has also worked with a number of schools across New Zealand to review and develop their internal and external communication systems. Alongside his education expertise, George is also a qualified counsellor, bringing a unique blend of professional knowledge and wellbeing insight to his work.

George’s mentoring is grounded in the belief that professional growth and personal wellbeing are inseparable. He understands that teaching in the Arts often requires significant emotional investment, creative energy, and time beyond the classroom. Mentoring offers a personalised, responsive alternative to one-size-fits-all professional development—meeting each teacher at their point of need with support that is practical, relevant, and immediately applicable.

His work helps teachers build confidence, refine their practice, and restore balance in their professional and personal lives. The result is often renewed energy, stronger professional clarity, and a deeper sense of purpose.
